I don’t know what I was expecting when I arrived in Porto, but I was pleasantly surprised when I was met with the friendliest people, a vibrant culture, heaps of history, yummy food, the perfect mix of nature and city- and lots, and lots, of porcelain tiles. I spent much of my time in the city of Porto, wandering the streets and alleyways. I later ventured out towards the coast, which was only a short drive away, to watch the sunset over the Atlantic.
I stayed at Hotel Vincci Porto, which was an old train station converted into a stunning hotel. Perfectly situated on the Douro River, it was less than a minute walk to the water, where you could walk for miles. I took the Douro River Cruise as well, to see the city and the 6 bridges from the water. Worth every moment!
